The women leaders of Dr. Mustapha Inuwa’s political camp have announced their defection from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging support for Governor Dikko Umar Radda’s re-election bid in 2027.
The move was led by Hon. Amina Rumah, head of the women’s wing of Inuwa’s camp, alongside several key female figures. Their decision followed a meeting with Governor Radda, facilitated by former House of Representatives aspirant Hon. Musa Yusuf Gafai.
According to Hon. Rumah, the defection was driven by Governor Radda’s developmental projects across Katsina State.
“I left Mustapha Inuwa’s camp because of the remarkable work Governor Radda is doing in every part of Katsina. We believe it is important to contribute to his continued success,” she stated.
She further pledged that women across the state would intensify grassroots mobilisation to ensure Governor Radda’s re-election in 2027.
Hon. Rumah also revealed that neglect from Dr. Inuwa towards his women supporters, despite their efforts since the 2023 elections across all 34 local government areas, played a key role in their decision.
Political analysts have described the defection as a significant setback to Dr. Inuwa’s political movement, warning it could weaken his influence in Katsina’s 2027 elections.
